How do you set up a chess board?

To set up a chess board, you will need a flat surface and a standard chess board. Place the board so that the bottom right square is a light square.

Each player should have a set of 16 chess pieces, consisting of a king, queen, two bishops, two knights, two rooks, and eight pawns.

The king should be placed on the back row on the player’s right side, while the queen should be placed on the back row on the left side.

The bishops should be placed on the next squares to the right of the king and queen. The knights should be placed on the next squares to the right of the bishops.

The rooks should be placed on the next squares to the right of the knights. Finally, the pawns should be placed on the row in front of the other pieces.

The board should be set up so that the bottom right square is a light square.

The player with the light-colored pieces should place their pieces on the first and second rows, while the player with the dark-colored pieces should place their pieces on the seventh and eighth rows.
